About Michelle Gritzer

Hi! First, thanks for coming to visit my site. If you're here, it's probably because you'd like to know more about me. Let's start with my last name. While I do have a lot of grit, my last name has more of a long eye sound. Think of the word bright, change the B to a G, and then add a "zer" at the end. Gritzer. 

Now that we got that out of the way, let's move on to the bio. I grew up outside Cleveland and have been writing and directing short films since I was twelve years old. My first documentary hit, “Cholesterol: The Silent Killer,” was created for my eighth-grade science class. After working on several other informative and entertaining documentaries throughout high school (notably: “The Odyssey- an Odyssey,” and “Word War I- the ten minute version”), I turned my focus to narrative story-telling and went to Ohio University to study film. 

After graduation I moved to Los Angeles, got accepted into the DGA training program, and started working as an assistant director for television and movies. I am a proud member of the DGA, and have thousands of hours of experience on set, working on a variety of projects including shows such as House, Veep, and GLOW, among many others. I have also directed several comedic shorts and web-series.

I especially enjoy making comedies about every-day women, exploring the stories and finding the humor about women who are insecure, complex people. I am creative, quick-thinking, and fun to be around. I truly love all aspects of visual story telling, and look forward to hearing from you soon!
